Įl Capitan is installing now and at this rate I may get the sierra by morning. Then drag and drop the dmg isos downloaded from their repository. Install the the package and the look for it in the launchpad. Then incrementally upgrade it later via dmg files. So The idea is to get an old Os installed. Literally I feel like I’m on crazy pills. The later editions all failed to load their respective images using this method as well. I have mountain lion in a bootable format. (It’s annoying and I had to look carefully for some modified program.) So i took to make a bootable usb via windows 11 using the video below. Logic states just reinstall the OS that usually fixes everything. I would be fine but safari is broken and can’t establish secure connections. I have literally spent a whole day trying to revive 15” MBP 2010 mid I found at work. I tried installing the Nvidia driver but that made it unable to boot Ubuntu any more.) (I actually had Ubuntu Desktop 23.04 on it for a while, but that kept hanging due to incompatibility with this Mac's dual Intel/Nvidia GPUs. This is just for fun I hate seeing an old computer in good condition go to waste. download a copy of the High Sierra installer (or earlier) to a new Mac or PC and turn it into something that I can boot the old Mac with?.get Internet Recovery to stop saying it can't contact the recovery server?.pkg on another Mac, the other Mac says it's too new to run Sierra. pkg that needs to be run to create the Install Sierra app. The latest macOS that I can download directly from Apple is regular Sierra, so I did that. The only way to get High Sierra is from the Mac App Store, which refuses to download it onto a Mac that's too new to run it (which are all of my other Macs). So I thought maybe I can set up a USB flash drive as installation media, but. I can hold Command-R to boot into Internet Recovery, and then go into the High Sierra installer, but after a minute it fails with "The recovery server could not be contacted." (The clock is set correctly, and I have it on both Ethernet and Wi-Fi and my network is fine.).Now I can't figure out how to get a copy of macOS to install onto it. Problem is, the hard drive was dead so I replaced it with a blank SSD. I have a 15" MacBook Pro (Mid 2010), which can run up to macOS High Sierra.
